Explore the secrets of the Garonne river‘s hillsides cherished by the famous French writer François Mauriac and the no less talented painter Toulouse-Lautrec. Then on the opposite bank enter the universe of Bordeaux‘s great sweet white wines.

-9:00 Hotel pick up Bordeaux or surroundings

Option 1

- 10:00 Visit of Chateau Mémoires followed by the visit of an authentic windmill of the 18th century.

Chateau Mémoires is a charming family wine estate recently converted into organic agriculture. Situated on the slopes of the Garonne’s right bank, it produces a wide range of AOC (controlled appellations of origin designations) wines you will appreciate at the end of the estate’s visit.
Thus you will have the opportunity to taste either great sweet wines, some complex and full-bodied red wines but also Rosé and fruity dry white wines.
Just next the estate, you will discover the secrets of an authentic 18th century windmill offering a breathtaking view over the Sauternes valley just on the opposite bank.

Option 2

-10:00 Visit of Chateau Malromé, the final resting place of painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec which is also a wine estate.
Plunge into the captivating artist’s life and universe through the comment of his major paintings displayed in the castle’s beautiful rooms where the artist spent the last days of his life with his mother.
This fascinating visit ends with an intimate tasting of one red and white wine in the chateau’s living room.

12:30 Lunch in a gastronomic restaurant located in the charming village of Verdelais

-2 pm Visit of Malagar property, summer residency of the French writer and journalist François Mauriac
During the tour you will discover the home of the Nobel laureate, the former wine cellar converted into an exhibition room and the peaceful garden of the property.

- Stopover in the village of Sainte Croix du Mont to admire its 12th century roman church, its caves dug out of a fossilized oyster bed dating back to the tertiary era, its 12th century castle which offers a magnificent view of the Garonne valley and the Sauternes valley located just opposite.

- 4pm Visit of Château Gravas, a beautiful family-owned estate producing above all very fine and aromatic sweet white wines under the Sauternes and Barsac appellations.
Art lovers will enjoy the permanent exhibition of the international painter and sculptor Paul Flickinger.

6pm Drop off at your hotel in Bordeaux or surroundings
